Abstract

|
Polyphenolics in six plum cultivars extracted with 80£¥ aqueous methanol were treated on two cancer cell lines, HepG2 human liver cancer cells and DLD1 human colon cancer cells. Plum polyphenolics showed the antiproliferative activities on both cancer cell lines in a dose-dependent manner. The effects on HepG2 cells were more apparent than on DLD1 cells. The relative antiproliferative activity of six plum cultivars on HepG2 cells was in the decreasing order£º French Damson £¾Cacak Beat £¾ Beltsville Elite B70197 £¾ Yugoslavian Elite T101 £¾ Longjohn £¾ Stanley. However, the relative antiproliferative activity on DLD1 cells was as follows£º French Damson £¾ Cacak Best £¾ Beltsville Elite B70197 £¾ Longjohn £¾ Yugoslavian Elite T101 £¾ Stanley. Frech Damson among six plum cultvars showed the highest growth inhibitory effects on two cancer cell lines, whereas Stanly exerted the lowest. There was a good correlation between total phenolics and IC_(£µ£°) values for DLD1 (r^(£²)£½0.666) and HepG2 cells (r^(£²)£½0.819).
